Making Peace at Home | Kathryn Yew | 2 September 2022

Every year, the monastic community (Monks and nuns) go on a three month retreat called the “Rains Retreat” from mid July to mid October. During this period, they do not visit our centres for teachings as it’s a time for deepening their own practice. While the monks and nuns are away, we will have some interesting guest speakers coming in to give the Friday Night talk. JOURNEY INTO NOW 2022 Guest Speaker - Kathryn Yew In the Spirit of Rains Retreat: May the Doors and Refuge of the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha Always Remain Open. Kathryn will share her lived experience of exploring the Maha Mangala (Greatest Blessings) and Metta (Loving-Kindness) Suttas, including poetry readings from Shakespeare, mystic poet Khalil Gibran and Acknowledgement of Country by Dr Gavi Ansara. In returning to the foundations of her root causes and conditioning, finding connection with her ancestral heartbeats has brought more peace and strength of clarity. She hopes to share the hope and quiet resilience that she has gathered within a troubled, busy world. May all beings be happy and well. About Kathryn Trained in Early Childhood Education and Family Therapy, Kathryn is a career nanny experienced with over 30 long-term positions in families’ homes. She is Well-Being Director and performer for Perth Playback Theatre, a troupe of improvised actors that have been described as “reflective empathy” for people’s everyday stories.
