Sotthi Hotu, Namo Buddhaya?? Halo BR Friends! Video ini kami ambil dari sesi sharing di kebaktian Buddhist Reborn pada tanggal 26 September 2021. ---------------------------------------------------- Hope and Redemption Have you ever disobeyed your teacher or broken the school rules? Have you ever felt a tremendous amount of guilt and shame? What should we do during times of darkness, full of suffering? Let's recall the story of Aṅgulimāla: Aṅgulimāla was born with the name of Ahiṃsaka, a calm and kind young boy, who was blessed with cleverness, until one day his father sent him to Takkasilā, the famous ancient university in India. He was a man who really honoured his teacher, and because he was so brilliant, he eventually became his teacher's favourite student. His friends started to show envious feelings towards Ahiṃsaka, and succeeded in poisoning his teacher's mind against him. The teacher attempted to get rid of Ahiṃsaka, asking him to deliver a thousand little fingers to show his respect and gratitude for the completion of his studies. Eventually, Ahiṃsaka gained popularity and became known as Aṅgulimāla or “Finger Garland”. At long last, he needed one more finger to complete his mission. That was when he met the Buddha. Running, chasing, and shouting at the Buddha to stop, the Buddha subdued him by saying, “I have stopped, Aṅgulimāla, having cast off violence towards all living beings, you too, stop”. By that courage and compassion of the Buddha, Aṅgulimāla abandoned evil and became one of the Buddha's disciples, eventually attaining arahantship. From this story, we learn: In the Dhamma, there is hope for everyone, even for the most ferocious and evil Aṅgulimāla, who transformed into a kind, gentle, compassionate disciple. The same goes to us, even if sometimes we feel that our kamma is so great that we think that we can never be forgiven. Remember, hope does exist if we depend on the power of the Dhamma, if we have a courage to change, and finding the strength to forgive ourselves. Dhamma is a long process, so be patient, keep the faith, keep the practice and trust the process. The moment you let go of your sword, that's when you start to progress towards awakening. So don't give up and be kind to yourself, just like the Buddha who would never give up in helping humankind be free from suffering. ---------------------------------------------------- Semoga video ini bermanfaat buat teman-teman semua, dan kami meminta maaf apabila ada kesalahan ?
