Sotthi Hotu, Namo Buddhaya?? Halo BR Friends! Video ini kami ambil dari sesi sharing di kebaktian Buddhist Reborn pada tanggal 5 Desember 2021. ---------------------------------------------------- Going beyond our discriminating minds Dhamma Now we are doing dhamma practice and there must be a purpose to learn dhamma, then what exactly are we pursuing? We all believe that dhamma can make us happy. ‘Dhamma saranam gacchami’ → I got the dhamma as my refuge, what does this mean in our lives? In general the purpose of learning dhamma → learn how to end suffering the purpose of practicing dhamma → . To actually end suffering And suffering itself can be really small (unpleasant feelings), this is what we call dukkha. Dukkha the feeling when we are angry inside us → unhappiness, what do we usually do? blame others Blame oneself As a buddhist we believe when something happen it is based on causes and condition (kamma) Whenever it comes to an issue, It is important to look at the condition (what makes us happy/unhappy?) But the problem is we are not objectives (ignorance) → atta When our mind is condition by ignorance, it drives action to fulfill things and we pursue things not knowing that it harmful to us when atta comes into the picture with ‘dhamma’, kilessa pops up and we start to experience ‘dukkha’ If you want to live like buddha, all you want to do is see dhamma But have you actually seen it? the main things in buddhism is to “see” and when we see dhamma, it means we see the truth How clean are your lenses? ….seeing and knowing things as they really are… …yathābhūtham ñānadassanam…. When we look at someone, do we make assumptions? Bias? Stereotype? Have a biases mind is the first notice that we have a discriminating minds It is human nature, but how do we ensure this does not lead us to bad? Whenever we discriminate it is usually because there is something we want to be proven, to be right, and can we do something about it? Discrimination The key in buddhism is always ask ‘why’ The reason why we discriminate is because something we have heard in the past Do you think there is a need of discrimination for someone's survival? Yes. We want to make sure what is probably good or bad for us. That is why when we anticipate the future, it is also discrimination, from our perspection in the past. So is this discrimination useful? When it comes to discrimination, there is a human tendency to discriminate because we are difference, and we create boundaries based on that differences. Differences vs diversity Differences is when you think someone is better than you, and you see them differently Someone being different with us doesn't mean that they are wrong Just because they didnt do something like what we do doesn't mean they are wrong When you difference: Comparison ‘why are they like that?’, judgment and create boundaries Train to thought… why is this person like that? he/she should be x instead of y reinforce the sense of ‘atta’ Diversity is seeing without bias When you see diversity: Understanding ‘Why do I think this way?’ empathy and create inclusion Train to thought… why am i thinking in this way? what are my personal biases and assumptions that i am making? just like me, this person too wishes to be well and happy The key thing is to understanding Kamma is not just the way you do, but what you think. ---------------------------------------------------- Semoga video ini bermanfaat buat teman-teman semua, dan kami meminta maaf apabila ada kesalahan ?
